Marvel/Disney’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps began its international release on Wednesday, reaching 44 markets. The movie has grossed an estimated $27M at the international box office by Thursday, with successful openings in Europe, Latin America, and Asia Pacific.

At this early stage, First Steps is performing well, running 57% ahead of Captain America: Brave New World, 32% over Superman, and 9% above Thunderbolts in comparable markets and exchange rates.

The international box office launch projection for Fantastic Four is $90M-$100M, with potential for more.

The film, featuring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Julia Garner, has helped Disney surpass $3B globally. When domestic previews are included, Disney will be the first studio to reach this milestone in 2025.

The top five overseas markets for First Steps are Mexico ($4.1M), UK ($2.8M), France ($2.7M), Italy ($1.7M), and Brazil ($1.7M).

France and Italy had strong opening days, outperforming previous superhero films. Netherlands also had a successful opening, ahead of other superhero movies.

Asia-Pacific markets showed positive responses, with strong market shares in Indonesia, Philippines, and Hong Kong. Major markets joining on Thursday included Mexico, UK, Brazil, Australia, Germany, and Korea.

In Latin America, First Steps had successful openings, with Mexico leading the overseas play. The UK and Australia also saw strong performances, with F4:FS achieving significant market shares.

Markets opening soon include China, Japan, and Spain. China may present challenges due to preferences, but Spain is expected to show promising numbers.
