Sunjay Kapur's Mother Raises Concerns Over AGM Amid Son's Mysterious Death

Rani Kapur, the mother of Sona Comstar's late Chairman Sunjay Kapur, has requested the company's board to postpone the annual general meeting (AGM) scheduled for July 25. She expressed concerns about holding the AGM during a period of mourning following her son's sudden and 'suspicious' death.

Sunjay Kapur, aged 53, passed away on June 12 due to a heart attack while playing polo in the UK. The AGM has already commenced, with Sunjay Kapur's widow Priya Sachdev expected to attend.

In her letter, Rani Kapur, the majority shareholder of Sona Group, stated that she was pressured to sign documents without proper explanation or time to review them amidst her grief. She accused certain individuals of taking advantage of the family's vulnerable state to gain control over the family legacy.

Rani Kapur emphasized that she did not authorize anyone to represent her interests in the company and urged the board to postpone the AGM to address these concerns.

The shares of Sona BLW dropped nearly 3 percent to Rs 477 apiece following these developments.
