Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar visited Hinjewadi for the second time in a fortnight and expressed concerns that the IT hub may move out of Pune if basic infrastructure isn’t improved. He reviewed steps taken by the local administration to address traffic jams and road widening issues raised by IT professionals and citizens, issuing a strict warning.
In a previous visit, Pawar instructed authorities to tackle issues like waterlogging and congestion. During this visit, he reprimanded a local sarpanch who suggested not widening the road to 36 meters but to 18 meters, as seen in a viral video. Pawar denied scolding the sarpanch but emphasized the importance of infrastructure improvement to prevent IT companies from relocating.
Accompanied by officials, Pawar inspected various works and emphasized the need for immediate action to enhance basic infrastructure in the IT park. Sarpanches from different villages expressed concerns about road widening affecting families, urging officials to consider their suggestions.
Pawar directed officials to expedite road widening projects and remove encroachments on water bodies. He reiterated the need to take strict action against those obstructing road construction, emphasizing the importance of infrastructure development to retain IT companies in Pune.
