92-Year-Old Man Convicted of Raping and Murdering Bristol Woman in 1967

A 92-year-old man, Ryland Headley, has been convicted of raping and murdering Louisa Dunne, 75, in Bristol in June 1967. The conviction came after a review by a cold case police team and scientists.

Headley was found guilty by a jury at Bristol crown court. DNA links between him and the crime scene were unearthed by Avon and Somerset police's major crime review team in Operation Beatle.

Headley, believed to be the oldest person convicted of murder in the UK, was caught after a DNA sample taken in 2012 matched semen found on Dunne's clothing.

The police are investigating if Headley is linked to other unsolved attacks. The cold case team worked tirelessly to bring justice after 58 years.
