Two women jailed for using fake university certificates to get jobs in Singapore

Two Filipina women, Torres Alyssa Riva Fernan and Conol Almira Joy Torres, were sentenced to jail for submitting false university certificates to the Ministry of Manpower in order to obtain employment passes and work in Singapore. They worked for a company operating Mr Fix retail outlets before their deception was uncovered.

Torres Alyssa Riva Fernan and Conol Almira Joy Torres were jailed for four and six weeks respectively on July 17 for submitting fake university certificates to the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) in Singapore to obtain employment passes. The two Filipinas managed to work for CL Enterprise for 15 months before their deception was uncovered during a random inspection by MOM. Torres submitted a forged bachelor's degree from Ateneo De Manila University, while Fernan submitted a fake certificate from De La Salle University in Manila. Both women were found guilty of deceiving the authorities and were sentenced accordingly.
