Manhunt for Escaped Prisoner in Nike 110s Underway

A manhunt is underway after a prisoner named Jack Downey, 28, from Maghull, escaped from a transport van. Downey was being transported from Copy Lane custody suite when he managed to escape around 5.50pm on Tuesday, July 15.

Downey, who had been wanted on recall to prison for breaching the terms of his release after being convicted of aggravated vehicle taking, is described as white, 5ft 4in tall, of medium build with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a yellow jacket, light-coloured hoodie, dark trousers, and Nike Air Max ‘110’ trainers.

As part of the investigation, a 45-year-old woman from Maghull and a 23-year-old man from Netherton have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and are in custody for questioning.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Suffield urged the public to report any sightings of Downey, emphasizing the importance of bringing him back into custody quickly. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police immediately by calling 999 or reaching out to Merseyside Police through various channels.
