Rahul Gandhi Warns Election Commission: We Will Hold You Accountable
Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi challenges the Election Commission's actions, vowing to address alleged voter disenfranchisement. He accuses the EC of allowing irregularities in voter lists and promises to expose the 'theft of votes'.

The Congress leader was speaking to reporters in the Parliament House complex.
Intensifying its criticism against the Election Commission, Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi on Thursday issued a direct challenge to the poll body saying that the poll body can't get away doing what it is doing and the Opposition will come for it.
Rahul's statement comes hours after Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar unequivocally defended the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar and answered his detractors by posing a question -- 'Should Election Commission allow dead voters to feature on the voter list?'
Speaking exclusively to CNN-News18, Kumar also asked if people with duplicate Elector Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) and foreigners should be allowed to be featured on the voter list. Gyanesh Kumar remark came at a time when the Opposition parties, led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Congress, have alleged that more than 50 lakh voters stand to be disenfranchised following the SIR exercise.
Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, Gandhi claimed that his party had figured out the modus operandi of the 'vote theft' by studying a Lok Sabha constituency in Karnataka. He said the Congress would put before the people and the Election Commission (EC) in black in white on how the 'theft of votes' is being done.
'It is not just about 52 lakhs. It is not just about Bihar, they cheated in Maharashtra. We have asked questions to the Election Commission, asked them EC to show us the voters' list, they did not show us the voters' list; we asked for videography, they changed the law. One crore new voters had come in Maharashtra and the election was stolen,' the Congress leader told reporters in the Parliament House complex.
