Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar has arrived in Washington DC to meet his US counterpart, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, at the Department of State. They will discuss strengthening Pak-US relations, focusing on trade, investment, and economic cooperation. Dar will also speak at The Atlantic Council to share Pakistan's views on global issues and Pak-US relations.

Pakistan's Ambassador to the US and embassy officials welcomed Dar in Washington. During his visit, Dar participated in Pakistan's UN Security Council events in New York and met UN Secretary General António Guterres. Bloomberg reported that a Pakistani delegation will meet the Trump administration for a trade deal. Islamabad aims to lift the 29% reciprocal tariffs imposed by the US and increase imports of soybeans and cotton.

Bilateral ties between Pakistan and the US have improved, with recent high-level meetings. The visit signifies Pakistan's growing importance in global relations. Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb also visited the US to enhance economic cooperation. Negotiations on reciprocal tariffs aim to reset economic ties amid shifting geopolitical dynamics and Pakistan's efforts to avoid high US export duties.
