Thai PM Warns of Possible War Escalation with Cambodia

Thailand and Cambodia engaged in heavy artillery fire for a second day, escalating their worst fighting in over a decade despite calls for a ceasefire. At least 16 people were killed, and tens of thousands displaced in the border battle.

Both countries blamed each other for starting the conflict. Thailand accused Cambodia of targeting civilians, while Cambodia alleged Thailand used cluster munitions.

Thailand ruled out mediation efforts from third countries, insisting on a bilateral mechanism to resolve the conflict.
