Quad Ministers Condemn Pahalgam Attack Without Naming Culprit

Quad foreign ministers met in Washington to discuss peace, stability, security, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region on July 2, 2025. The Quad grouping of the United States, India, Japan, and Australia called for the perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) to be brought to justice without delay. The attack on April 22 led to tensions between India and Pakistan, with Pakistan denying responsibility and calling for a neutral investigation.

The US State Department issued a joint statement condemning all acts of terrorism and violent extremism, without explicitly naming Pakistan. Last month, Pakistan and India engaged in a military confrontation following the Pahalgam attack. The conflict ended on May 10 with a ceasefire agreement brokered by the US after Pakistan downed six fighter jets and dozens of drones in response to Indian aggression.

While India disagreed with US President Donald Trump's claims that the ceasefire resulted from his intervention, Pakistan acknowledged Trump's efforts and recommended him for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize for his role in defusing tensions between the two nations.
