Paramount Settles $16m Lawsuit with Trump Over 60 Minutes Interview

CBS parent company Paramount settled a lawsuit filed by Donald Trump over an interview broadcast in October. The media company agreed to pay $16m, allocated to Trump’s future presidential library. The settlement did not include an apology or regret statement.

Trump filed a $10bn lawsuit against CBS, alleging deceptive editing in a 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris. CBS aired two versions of the interview, prompting the lawsuit. CBS had called the lawsuit meritless and sought its dismissal.

Paramount also agreed that 60 Minutes would release interview transcripts with future US presidential candidates. The case entered mediation in April.

Trump alleged CBS violated the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices-Consumer Protection Act. The settlement coincides with Paramount's merger with Skydance Media.

Trump has pursued legal action against media outlets, including a defamation case settled with ABC News and a lawsuit settled with Meta Platforms over account suspension after the US Capitol attack.
