Knock's Popular Carty's Bar Reopens After Five-Year Closure

AFTER five years of darkness and closed doors, Knock's famous watering hole, Carty's Bar, has opened once again for business. The pub, once owned by former Mayo County Council representative Michael Carty, had to close due to the outbreak of Covid. However, it has now reopened after a successful grand opening last Friday night.

Michael Carty Jnr, son of Mary and the late Michael, has taken over the pub after a recent overhaul and refurbishment. Kieran Jennings will manage the pub to ensure a warm welcome for visitors.

Carty’s Bar has been a part of life in Knock for many decades, with Michael's family being involved in running the pub over the years. The pub has been a favorite spot for many, especially after Mayo matches in MacHale Park. The reopening aims to continue the family tradition and provide a social outlet for the community with regular music nights and card games.

We wish Michael and Kieran every success in their new venture.
