Indian government faces limitations in saving Nimisha Priya from execution in Yemen
The Supreme Court heard a plea to halt the execution of Indian nurse Nimisha Priya in Yemen. The Attorney General of India stated that government efforts are limited due to the sensitivity of the situation. Negotiations for a blood money settlement remain the only option to save Priya.

The Supreme Court heard a plea on July 14 to halt Keralite nurse Nimisha Priya's execution in Yemen on July 16. The plea was filed by Save Nimisha Priya International Action Council.
Attorney General of India (AGI) R Venkataramani stated that the Indian government is trying to save Priya's life. Talks with Yemeni authorities are ongoing to suspend the execution order.
The AGI said the government's intervention is limited due to the sensitivity of Yemen and private negotiations for blood money.
The petitioner seeks negotiations to save Priya. The Centre mentioned the possibility of higher blood money as a solution.
The only option to save Priya is a blood money settlement, subject to the victim's family's acceptance.
Justice Sandeep Mehta expressed concern over Priya's situation. The Supreme Court scheduled further hearing on July 18.
Blood money is compensation paid to the family of a deceased. Priya faces death sentence in Yemen for a 2017 incident.
