Public Dissatisfaction Grows in Pakistan's Northwest Province Ruled by Imran Khan's Party
A recent Gallup Pakistan survey highlights a decrease in public satisfaction in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, governed by Imran Khan's PTI party. Residents express concerns about poor infrastructure, high unemployment, and lack of accountability. Despite PTI's long tenure, dissatisfaction is widespread, with demands for better governance and transparency.

A new Gallup Pakistan survey reveals a sharp decline in public satisfaction in the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province where the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has ruled for over a decade. Residents cite poor infrastructure, widespread unemployment, and lack of accountability.
The survey, based on face-to-face interviews with 3,000 residents across KP, was conducted in February and March 2025. PTI has governed the province since 2013 and formed the provincial government again after the 2024 general elections.
Despite 13 years of PTI governance, the survey shows disappointment even among PTI voters. A majority of respondents reported rising unemployment and a lack of basic services like gas and electricity. Youth facilities are also lacking.
Corruption is a major concern, with many believing that development funds were misused. Support for accountability is high, even among PTI supporters.
The PTI's health insurance scheme, the Sehat Card, remains popular. However, there is disillusionment with the current leadership, with many expressing a preference for Imran Khan despite his legal issues.
The survey also highlights the desire for stronger collaboration between the provincial and federal governments. Public dissatisfaction with the formal justice system is evident, with traditional dispute resolution mechanisms gaining favor.
In conclusion, the survey indicates that while PTI retains loyalty from its core base, economic pressures, lack of development, and calls for transparency have diminished its broader support.
