Rajkummar Rao’s film Maalik had a modest start at the box office, earning 4.02 crore on the opening day, slightly lower than Metro In Dino’s 4.05 crore. However, on the second day, the film saw an increase in ticket sales.
The action drama experienced a significant 152% jump in ticket sales on BookMyShow from 1 – 2 PM on Saturday, July 12, day 2. The film sold 7.5K tickets during that time frame, compared to 2.9K tickets on the opening day.
On day 2, Maalik had a morning show occupancy of only 6.5%, lower than the opening day's 12.8% occupancy. It remains to be seen if Rajkummar Rao will see growth on day 2 and narrow the gap with his previous release, Bhool Chuk Maaf.
On the opening day, Maalik recorded 66.15K ticket sales on BookMyShow, ranking as the 8th lowest opening day sales for a Bollywood film in 2025. Despite this, Rajkummar Rao fell short of surpassing Fateh’s opening sales of 67K on BMS.
