Argao SK Federation President Accused of Murder

A Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation president in Argao, southern Cebu, is facing a murder charge after allegedly shooting and killing a man inside a resto-bar late Friday night, July 11, 2025.

While police have not officially released the identity of the SK Federation president from Barangay Lamacan, a quick search on the Argao SK Federation’s Facebook page identifies Mark Alphonsus Villamora as the organization’s president.

Villamora was arrested by officers from the Argao Municipal Police Station, led by police chief Maj. Janus Giangan, shortly after the incident, which occurred at 11:16 p.m. inside the Hide Out Resto Bar in Don Gil, Barangay Poblacion.

The victim was identified as Elmer Angelo Amarillo, a resident of Poblacion.

SunStar tried to reach out to Argao’s public information office, but the latter had not responded as of press time.

Investigations revealed that Villamora arrived at the resto-bar where Amarillo was present and shot him multiple times using a 9mm pistol.

Amarillo sustained gunshot wounds to the head and various parts of the body.

He was rushed to Isidro C. Kintanar Memorial Hospital for medical assistance but was declared dead on arrival at 2:30 a.m. by attending physician Dr. Seth Aedrian.

Police recovered a Glock 17 Gen 4 9mm pistol from the suspect, along with an empty magazine.

While the suspect possesses a License to Own and Possess Firearm, police confirmed he does not hold a Permit to Carry Firearm Outside Residence, making his possession of the firearm outside his home unlawful.

Investigators are looking into jealousy and a possible love triangle as the likely motives behind the fatal shooting.

A Scene of the Crime Operation team processed the crime scene, recovering nine spent cartridges, two fired bullets, one deformed slug, and a bullet fragment.
