The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on July 14, 2025, cautioned the public, especially those in coastal areas, about the expected debris from a Chinese rocket falling within Philippine waters.

China is set to launch its rocket from the Wenchang Space Launch Site in Hainan, China between July 15 to 17, from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. (PH Standard Time). The debris may land in designated drop zones near Masinloc, Zambales; Occidental Mindoro; Kalayaan Island Group; and Palawan.

The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) advised against approaching the debris due to potential exposure to toxic substances. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is recommended if contact is necessary.

The public is urged to report any debris sightings to local authorities. The NDRRMC issued Memorandum Order No. 165 series of 2025 on July 11, signed by Asst. Sec. Cesar Idio.

The NDRRMC recommended the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), and DENR-NAMRIA to implement temporary restrictions and issue navigational warnings in the identified drop zones.
