Tony Hawk Explains Song Choices in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4
Tony Hawk recently reiterated the reasons behind the song selection in the latest release of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series. He aimed to introduce players to new music while keeping the soundtrack fresh by including different songs by familiar artists. The decision to exclude certain classics was to make room for new acts and songs, maintaining a balance between modern and legendary skaters in the game.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 was released on multiple platforms this week, offering a nostalgic throwback to the series' glory days. However, there are noticeable differences, particularly in the soundtrack. Some classic songs are missing from the lineup.
In a recent interview with BBC News, Tony Hawk reiterated his decision to include 'different songs' in the game, not only to introduce players to new music but also to highlight that he is not the sole decision-maker for the soundtrack.
He explained, 'I selected songs based on what I think fits and what interests me. While I'm not the only one choosing the songs, I did manage to include a few bands. I also opted for songs by artists already featured in the game, albeit different ones. Not everyone agreed with this decision, but I believe it keeps things fresh and helps fans discover new music.'
Regarding the exclusion of Alien Ant Farm's 'Wish' from the latest release, Hawk mentioned that the goal was to make space for new acts and songs. He clarified, 'It's not personal. We wanted to introduce fresh content. If you're fond of the song, feel free to listen to it on your streaming service.'
Similar to the previous release, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2, the latest game maintains a blend of legendary skaters and new talent. Hawk discussed the selection process, aiming to balance modernity with respect for past legends and active skaters in the scene.
Notable additions to the character roster include Chloe Covell, Rayssa from Brazil, and Andy Anderson. Bam Magera, a skater and Jackass star, was also included in the game at a later stage of development, with Hawk personally requesting his addition.
