Two-car Crash in Polk County Leaves Five Injured, One Vehicle Flipped and Submerged in Water
Five individuals were injured in a collision involving two cars in Polk County. The incident occurred at the intersection of N.E. 112th Street and East University Avenue on Sunday morning. One vehicle ended up overturned and submerged in water, with responders managing to flip it back upright. An adult male from the submerged vehicle was airlifted to a nearby hospital in stable condition, while two adults and two juveniles from the other vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Five people were injured in a two-car crash on Sunday morning, with one vehicle flipping and ending up in water. The incident occurred at the intersection of N.E. 112th Street and East University Avenue, south of Mitchellville, around 9:15 a.m. A deputy and witnesses managed to overturn the submerged vehicle.
An adult male from the submerged vehicle was airlifted to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition. Two adults and two juveniles from the other vehicle suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital by ground ambulance.
The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the crash, and westbound traffic on East University Avenue will be closed at N.E. 112th Street.
