Congress Leader Shashi Tharoor Faces Rift with Party Over National Security Stance
Congress leader K Muraleedharan announced that Shashi Tharoor will not be invited to party events in Thiruvananthapuram until he changes his stance on national security. Tharoor, a Congress Working Committee member, has faced criticism for his 'nation first' approach.

Amid the growing rift between Shashi Tharoor and the Congress, senior party leader K Muraleedharan stated that Tharoor will not be invited to any party programme in Thiruvananthapuram until he changes his stance on the national security issue.
Muraleedharan mentioned that Tharoor, a Congress Working Committee (CWC) member, was no longer considered part of the party and that the national leadership would decide on necessary actions against him.
Responding to reporters' queries on Tharoor's stance on national security issues, Muraleedharan emphasized that Tharoor would not be invited to any party event in Thiruvananthapuram until he alters his position.
Tharoor, who led India's all-party delegation on Operation Sindoor to the Americas, had expressed his belief in prioritizing the country's interests and received criticism for his 'nation first' stance.
Despite facing backlash, Tharoor stood by his views, advocating for cooperation with other parties for national security interests.
Muraleedharan criticized Tharoor for sharing a survey suggesting he is the UDF's preferred choice for Chief Minister, questioning his party allegiance amid the rift with the central leadership.
The disagreement between Tharoor and the Congress escalated following his comments on the Pahalgam terror attack and his critique of Indira Gandhi over the Emergency.
