Sindh Government Launches Second Phase of People’s IT Program

The Sindh government has launched the second phase of the People’s IT program to educate youth in line with the modern digital era, as reported by ARY News. Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced the start of Phase II of the People’s IT Program (PITP), with a budget of Rs1.4 billion.
Memon emphasized that the People’s IT program is a significant digital initiative, aiming to integrate Sindh’s youth into the global digital economy. In the first phase, 13,565 students received training in advanced IT disciplines, and 300 top-performing students were awarded Google Chromebooks and laptops for their achievements.
The second phase aims to train 35,000 students across 12 high-demand digital sectors, enhancing the province’s digital workforce. The increased higher education budget reflects the government’s dedication to equipping youth with cutting-edge skills for the professional world.
Sharjeel Memon sees the educational reforms as crucial for the future of young people and as a driver for Sindh’s socio-economic progress.
The Human Capital Development Program through the Information Science and Technology department, Government of Sindh, aims to increase employability and bridge the supply gap for industry-ready skilled resources. The program will equip non-ICT graduates/undergraduates with emerging technologies and soft skills to enhance the HR workforce available to Pakistan's IT sector.
PITP objectives:
