Tropical Storm Emong Approaching Batanes; Signal No. 2 Still in Effect

Tropical Storm Emong is moving closer to Batanes province, still under Signal No. 2, according to Pagasa. Emong was located over Sabang, Batanes with winds of 85 kph and gustiness of up to 115 kph. It is moving north-northeast at 40 kph.
Signal No. 2 is up for Batanes and Babuyan Islands, while Signal No. 1 is in effect for Ilocos Norte, Apayao, and mainland Cagayan. Pagasa expects Emong to exit the Philippine area by Saturday morning, weakening into a low pressure area.
Despite Emong weakening, habagat will bring strong gusts to various regions. Precautionary measures are advised for areas susceptible to hazards. Sea travel is risky in northern Luzon waters.
