Samsung Galaxy S26 to Drop Plus Model in 2026: Leaked Display Specs

Come 2026, Samsung may not release a Galaxy S Plus model for the first time in almost a decade. Recent leaks suggest that Samsung might be phasing out the ‘Plus’ variant from its Galaxy S series. Speculations began after the launch of the Galaxy S25 Edge earlier this year, hinting at a possible replacement for the Plus model in the upcoming S lineup.

According to reports from The Elec, Samsung is working on three models for the Galaxy S26 series, excluding a ‘Plus’ variant. The lineup is expected to include the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. Display sizes have also been leaked, with the regular S26 featuring a 6.27-inch screen, the S26 Edge with a 6.66-inch panel, and the S26 Ultra offering the largest at 6.89 inches. These details are based on manufacturing information related to existing parts.

If these reports are accurate, it signifies a significant change for Samsung, as the company has consistently introduced a Plus model every year since the Galaxy S8 Plus in 2017. The Galaxy S25 Edge, introduced this year, appears to have paved the way for this transition, possibly as a test to gauge consumer response.

Currently, Samsung offers four phones in the Galaxy S25 series: the standard S25, S25 Plus, S25 Edge, and S25 Ultra, all powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Display sizes range from 6.2 inches for the S25 to 6.9 inches for the Ultra. If the Plus model is indeed being phased out, the Edge could serve as the intermediary option.

In addition to the S series, Samsung has also updated its foldable lineup with the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, and Flip 7 FE. While there is no official confirmation from Samsung regarding the Galaxy S26 series, leaks like these often provide insights into upcoming releases. The reception of this change, whether fans will miss the Plus model or embrace the Edge as a replacement, will become clearer early next year when Samsung is expected to unveil the S26 series.
