Indian astronaut Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, who is returning to earth after an 18-day stay at the International Space Station (ISS), has successfully completed all seven microgravity experiments. The experiments included studies on Indian strain of Tardigrades, Myogenesis, Sprouting of methi and moong seeds, Cyanobacteria, Microalgae, Crop seeds, and Voyager Display as planned by ISRO.
Group Captain Shukla, the first Indian to reach space in 41 years, was assigned microgravity research experiments proposed by Indian Principal Investigators (PIs) from national R&D laboratories and academic institutions. During his time at ISS, he interacted with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and students in India via ham radio.
The Ax-4 research included around 60 scientific studies from 31 countries, with the Dragon spacecraft carrying over 580 pounds of cargo back to Earth, including NASA hardware and data from more than 60 experiments.
