Rosie O'Donnell Responds to Trump's Citizenship Threat

Rosie O'Donnell mentioned that she did not take it personally when US President Donald Trump suggested he might revoke her US citizenship. Trump's comments came after O'Donnell criticized his administration's handling of weather forecasting agencies during the Texas floods. He referred to her as a 'threat to humanity' who should stay in Ireland. O'Donnell moved to Ireland with her child earlier this year after Trump's second term began. The two have been in a public feud for 19 years, starting when O'Donnell criticized Trump on The View.

According to US law, a president cannot revoke the citizenship of a US-born citizen like O'Donnell. Speaking on RTÉ Radio 1, O'Donnell mentioned that she learned of Trump's threat from a friend while getting ready to watch Wimbledon. She expressed pride in opposing Trump's actions and statements, along with other celebrities and activists he has targeted. O'Donnell believes Trump's behavior has emboldened like-minded individuals.

When asked why she thinks she bothers Trump, O'Donnell attributed it to their shared upbringing and her New York roots. She emphasized that moving to Ireland was for self-preservation, especially to care for her autistic child. O'Donnell expressed love for the US and its values but acknowledged the country's flaws and the need for self-reflection.

O'Donnell is set to debut her stand-up show Common Knowledge in Dublin and then at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. She will appear on RTÉ Radio 1's Sunday with Miriam show.
