Prominent Patna Businessman Gopal Khemka Fatally Shot Near Home, 6 Years After Son's Murder
Prominent businessman Gopal Khemka was shot dead near his residence in Patna's Gandhi Maidan area. This tragic incident occurred late Friday night, almost six years after his son Gunjan Khemka was killed in a similar manner in Vaishali district. Gopal Khemka, known for owning Magadh Hospital and his ties to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was attacked by unidentified gunmen as he exited his car near Twin Tower residential complex. The police are investigating the motive behind the shooting.

Businessman Gopal Khemka was shot dead late Friday night near his residence in the Gandhi Maidan area of Patna. Khemka, the owner of Magadh Hospital, was a prominent figure in Patna’s business community and reportedly associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The shooting took place around 11:40 pm near Ram Gulam Chowk as Khemka was getting out of his car near the Twin Tower residential complex. He was shot at close range by unidentified assailants and pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital.
City Superintendent of Police (Central), Diksha, mentioned that a forensic team recovered a bullet and a shell casing at the scene. The police are investigating the incident and examining CCTV footage to determine the motive behind the attack.
The killing of Gopal Khemka comes amidst criticism of the state government for alleged lawlessness in Bihar. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and Purnea MP Pappu Yadav have condemned the incident, highlighting the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
