The start of July Fourth has brought 'life-threatening flash flooding' to Kerrville, Texas, confirmed by NWS. County authorities reported an unknown number of fatalities.

Kerrville Mayor Joe Herring Jr. issued a disaster declaration due to 'catastrophic' local flooding that has resulted in at least six deaths on the Fourth of July. Kerr County Judge Rob Kelley confirmed the fatalities, with ages and identities currently unknown.

Five to 10 inches of rain fell before sunrise from slow-moving and intense storms in Kerr and Kendall counties, which are under a Flash Flood Warning until at least noon. The Guadalupe River crested to one of its highest-ever peaks on Friday morning, causing water levels in Kerrville to rise significantly.

The National Weather Service described the flooding as 'life-threatening.' One death was confirmed at Louise Hays Park in Kerrville, leading to the cancellation of the 'Fourth on the River' holiday celebration.

Local authorities have responded to numerous high-water rescue calls, urging residents living near the river to evacuate immediately. Reunification areas and shelters have been set up for those impacted by the flooding.

A widespread power outage is affecting 5,000 customers in Kerr County. Bandera County is also experiencing flooding, with several areas reporting high water levels.

The Guadalupe River reached its second-highest height on record, surpassing the 1987 flood. Weather officials have warned of the dangerous flood event and advised residents to seek higher ground.

Several streets in Kerrville are closed due to flooding, including Arcadia Loop, Thompson Drive, Guadalupe Street, and others.
