Police Chief Confirms Human Bones in Sacks from Taal Lake
Philippine National Police chief Nicolas Torre III confirmed the recovery of human bones from sacks found in Taal Lake. The investigation also revealed the presence of animal remains in the area. The process of differentiating between human and animal remains is underway.

PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief Nicolas Torre III confirmed Monday that the sacks recovered from Taal Lake contained human bones, which are now in the custody of the forensic group.
The police chief, however, also confirmed the presence of animal remains, as the area around Taal Lake is a vast farmland. Processing of the remains, he said, would thus include differentiating between animal and human remains.
Kin of missing cockfighting enthusiasts take their oath before the National Police Commission on July 14, 2025, before the filing of a complaint affidavit against police officers allegedly involved in the disappearance of the sabungeros.
The bones would be matched against the DNA provided by the relatives of missing cockfighting enthusiasts or sabungeros, who disappeared in 2021.
