Several US firms are exploring partnerships in digital transformation, workforce development, logistics, and advanced manufacturing. New investments in electronics and semiconductor production are expected to enhance the country's global value chain position.
Additionally, the US government committed $15 million to support private sector development and $48 million in foreign-assisted projects for national development. Marcos highlighted the growing investor confidence in the Philippines due to reforms aimed at improving the ease of doing business and creating a transparent environment for investors.
During his visit, Marcos and US President Donald Trump reaffirmed the strong Philippines-US alliance and discussed cooperation in cybersecurity, energy security, resilience, and critical infrastructure development. They also reiterated their commitment to the Mutual Defense Treaty.
Meetings with US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio focused on key defense and security issues, highlighting the importance of the Philippine-US alliance in promoting peace and stability in the region. Marcos invited Trump to attend the upcoming Asean Summit in Manila next year to commemorate 80 years of diplomatic relations and 75 years of the Mutual Defense Treaty.
