Mounjaro Users Report Weight Gain Side Effect: Bloating and Painful Swelling

A mother-of-three from Kent, Kayleigh, lost two stone in nine weeks using weight loss injections called Mounjaro. These injections, known as the 'King Kong' of skinny jabs, reduce appetite and promote rapid weight loss. However, they can cause severe side effects such as bloating, nausea, and diarrhoea. Kayleigh shared images showing extreme bloating after taking the injections, causing her stomach to swell significantly.

The injections mimic the hormone GLP-1 to aid weight loss by delaying stomach emptying and keeping users fuller for longer. This delay in digestion can lead to painful bloating. Kayleigh's bloating is accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea, common side effects of these injections.

Some users suggested that the bloating could be due to slower digestion triggered by the medication. Kayleigh found relief by taking probiotics to support digestion and regulate bowel movements. However, Mounjaro has been linked to severe side effects like pancreatitis, with hundreds of cases reported and ten deaths.

Experts warn that these injections are not a cure-all and can have serious consequences. Despite their popularity, weight loss jabs can lead to costly hospital admissions due to adverse reactions. The NHS is expected to offer Mounjaro free of charge to severely obese patients with certain health conditions.

Weight loss jabs have been associated with lowering blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes patients. However, the rise in obesity levels in the UK has led to a significant increase in type 2 diabetes cases among younger individuals. It is crucial to weigh the benefits against the risks when considering these injections.
