Spanish police confirm Liverpool forward Diogo Jota was driving in the car accident that tragically took his and his brother's lives. The incident occurred on the A-52 motorway in Zamora, with the vehicle reportedly exceeding the speed limit.

Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, tragically died in a car accident in Spain last Thursday. The incident occurred at 12:30 am local time on the A-52 motorway in Zamora. Spanish police have stated that the evidence suggests Jota was the driver of the vehicle.
According to the Civil Guard in Zamora, the vehicle was believed to have been traveling at a speed significantly above the limit for the highway at the time of the accident. Jota was reportedly on his way from Portugal to Santander in northern Spain, where he was planning to return to England via ferry.
The investigation is ongoing, with experts examining the marks left by one of the vehicle's wheels. While the final expert report is pending, initial findings point to Diogo Jota as the driver of the crashed vehicle. The case will be reviewed by the Puebla de Sanabria court.
Tragically, the accident resulted in a fire after the vehicle left the road, leading to the loss of both Jota and Silva's lives. The funeral for the brothers was held in Gondomar, near Porto, on Saturday.
