Kawasaki Defends Fair Compensation Amid Strike

Kawasaki Motors Philippines Corporation (KMPC) defended its compensation practices as fair and competitive amid an ongoing strike by its labor union.

In a press release, KMPC stated that despite pandemic challenges, the company maintained competitive pay and benefits for its employees.

Despite pandemic-related setbacks, KMPC prioritized employee welfare by offering wages and benefits exceeding inflation rates.

The statement was issued following a manifestation by the Kawasaki United Labor Union (KULU) asserting the legality of their strike initiated in May.

KULU emphasized that Filipino workers have the right to declare a strike during Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations.

Kawasaki had filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) seeking to declare the strike illegal.

KMPC highlighted that the average salary for rank-and-file workers is approximately P38,000 per month, exceeding the national poverty threshold for a family of five.

In addition to wages, KMPC offers bonuses, benefits, and up to a 16th month pay bonus.

The benefits package includes family health coverage, allowances, incentives, and leave benefits beyond legal requirements.
