Imran Khan's party launches 90-day protest movement against Pakistan government

Former prime minister Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has started a 90-day protest movement against the government, aiming to determine the party's future. The movement follows a court ruling denying the party reserved parliamentary seats for minorities and women. Tensions rose when 26 PTI lawmakers were suspended for protesting during a speech by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The party's leadership announced the movement in Lahore, stating it will peak on August 5, the anniversary of Khan's arrest.

Khan, who remains in prison, claims the charges against him are politically motivated. The PTI demands his release and an independent investigation into the 2024 elections. The party accuses the government of stifling dissent and disrupting economic growth. PTI leader Gandapur expressed readiness for talks with the military, whom he sees as the 'real decision-makers.'
