Diabolic Hill Wins Exciting Race in Kindergarten Series Opener
The Kindergarten Series for two-year-olds started with a bang at The Meadowlands, with Diabolic Hill emerging as the standout winner in the colt-and-gelding trot category. Despite being a bit mischievous, Diabolic Hill showed great potential and speed, impressing both driver Andy McCarthy and trainer Annie Stoebe. The race featured a total of seven exciting contests, with other notable winners including Ladysassin, Southwind Alamo, Whos Eyes Blues, Dax Seelster, Abbey Blue Chip, and Waldon Fashion.
The Kindergarten Series for two-year-olds started on Friday, July 4 at The Meadowlands with seven $34,247 races for horses of each sex and gait. Diabolic Hill, a still-learning horse, won the first colt-and-gelding trot. Driver Andy McCarthy described him as a 'naughty boy' who needs guidance but has potential and speed.
Racing from the four-hole, Diabolic Hill won by 1-1/2 lengths over Mr Penner. Trainer Annie Stoebe acknowledged his need to mature but praised his potential. Diabolic Hill, bought for $405,405, finished the mile in 1:56.2.
Other winners included Ladysassin, Southwind Alamo, Whos Eyes Blues, Dax Seelster, Abbey Blue Chip, and Waldon Fashion. Notable performances by drivers Andy McCarthy, Todd McCarthy, Tim Tetrick, Dexter Dunn, and Yannick Gingras. Total handle for the program was $2,465,754.
Racing resumes Saturday at 7 p.m. with Stan Bergstein Graduate Series finals as the featured events.
