Three people died on Friday in Karachi when a five-storey residential building collapsed in the Baghdadi area of Lyari, leaving several others trapped under the rubble. Rescue sources reported that six injured individuals have been rescued so far, with one in critical condition.
Rescue teams, police, and Rangers quickly responded to the incident, launching relief operations and utilizing heavy machinery to clear the debris. Local residents are also aiding in the rescue efforts. Six injured individuals, including three women, have been taken to the Trauma Centre at Civil Hospital, with one woman in critical condition.
Two bodies and five injured individuals were recovered by the Edhi Foundation. Emergency has been declared at Jinnah Hospital and Civil Hospital. Eyewitnesses mentioned that multiple families resided in the dilapidated building.
Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori and Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah expressed concern over the collapse, instructing rescue agencies to prioritize relief operations and provide immediate medical assistance to the injured. Minister Saeed Ghani also directed efforts to rescue all trapped individuals promptly.
