The National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued a weather alert predicting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and possible flash floods in various regions of the country from July 6 to 10.
NEOC's impact-based weather alerts have warned that the combination of monsoon activity and a strong westerly wave may affect multiple regions during this period.
From July 7 to 12, northern areas are at a higher risk of flash floods. Isolated rain and thunderstorms are expected in Islamabad and parts of Punjab from July 6 to 10, with widespread moderate to heavy rainfall anticipated in northern and central Punjab.
Southern Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu & Kashmir are also expected to experience varying levels of rainfall, with the possibility of flash flooding in certain areas.
These weather conditions could lead to flash floods, landslides, road blockages, and disruptions to power and communication systems. Precautions are advised, including avoiding unnecessary travel, staying indoors during intense weather, and securing household items and vehicles.
Residents are urged to stay updated through NDMA's official advisories and the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert App for real-time weather updates, safety tips, and early warnings.
