A 21-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by two teenagers in western Sydney, possibly due to mistaken identity, according to New South Wales police.
The incident occurred on Thursday, June 26, at around 10:45 pm on Driftway Drive in Pemulwuy. Luke Manassa, 21, was attacked by two males in dark clothing and disguises while he was with his girlfriend.
Following the incident, homicide detectives conducted search warrants in South Penrith, Mount Druitt, and Woodcroft. A 17-year-old male was charged with murder and a 16-year-old boy was also arrested and charged with murder.
Despite managing to get back into his car after the stabbing, Manassa succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The police suspect it was an ambush-style attack where the attackers were armed with machete-style knives.
The motive behind the attack remains unknown, and the police are investigating the possibility of mistaken identity. The victim's family believes he was innocent and at the wrong place at the wrong time.
The arrested teenagers were allegedly linked to street gangs and were contracted to commit the crime. Police seized weapons, communication devices, clothing, and a vehicle believed to be used in the incident.
