Bata's Response to Concern Over Worker Cleaning Shelf
A Bata employee was seen cleaning a shelf in a risky manner, prompting a shopper to express worry. The incident took place at Northpoint City in Yishun. Despite advice to use a ladder, the worker continued without heed. Bata assures that the issue is being addressed.

A Bata employee left a Stomper worried with the way she climbed a shoe shelf to clean it. Stomper Anonymous witnessed the 'disturbing incident' while shopping at Northpoint City in Yishun on June 16. 'I saw this young lady from the sales staff cleaning the shelves without any concern for her own safety,' said Anonymous. 'She wasn't using any ladder and was instead stepping on the shelves themselves, which is not made to withstand human weight or having one stand on it. I then told her it's not safe, but she simply ignored my advice and continued in her cleaning work.' 'Is there a ladder available in the store but she didn't use it? Or there isn't any ladder at all?' the Stomper asked. 'I have seen other retail stores that provide staff with ladders to do work at heights.'
In response to a Stomp query, a spokesperson from Bata said: 'Please be assured that we take this matter seriously. It has been escalated to the relevant team and we will take the necessary actions to address it. We are also reviewing our internal processes to ensure that similar issues do not occur again.'
