Mother and Daughter Killed in Donegal Car Crash Identified Locally

A tragic road accident near Carndonagh, Co Donegal claimed the lives of a young mother and her six-year-old daughter. The mother, Natalie McLaughlin, succumbed to her injuries the following day, while the daughter, Ella McLaughlin, was fatally injured at the scene. A mother and daughter tragically lost their lives in a road crash near Carndonagh, Co Donegal. Six-year-old Ella McLaughlin was fatally injured as a rear seat passenger when their car collided with a van on the R240 road at Glentogher around 6.30pm. Her mother, Natalie McLaughlin, a nurse in her 20s who was driving, succumbed to her injuries the next day after being transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. Two other occupants of the car were hospitalized, with one being treated at Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry and the other at the Royal Victoria Hospital.

All four individuals involved in the crash were part of the same family unit. The community expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the mother and daughter. The tragic incident brought the total road fatalities in Co Donegal to 10 for the year. Fr Con McLaughlin, parish priest in Carndonagh, offered support to the affected family and highlighted the efforts of medical staff in providing care.

The R240 road was temporarily closed for investigation but later reopened. Garda Traffic Corps in Donegal urged witnesses, especially those with relevant camera footage, to come forward with information.
