Singapore Man Gets Over Two Years in Jail for Cheating Ex-Wife's Boyfriend of S$220,000
A Singaporean man has been sentenced to over two years in jail for collaborating with his ex-wife to deceive her former boyfriend out of S$220,000 through a fake property investment scheme. The man, Eric Ong Chee Wei, made partial restitution to the victim and faces additional jail time if he fails to pay the remaining amount. His ex-wife, Felicia Tay Bee Ling, also received a jail sentence for her involvement in the scam.

Eric Ong Chee Wei, who has repaid $10,000 to the victim, was also ordered to compensate $210,000. His wife, Felicia Tay Bee Ling, received a two-year jail term. Ong and Tay pleaded guilty to cheating charges in June. They are set to start serving their sentences on Aug 18.
Ong and Tay deceived the victim into paying 'security deposits' for non-existent condominium units. Tan realized the scam when he received no returns on his investments. The offenders were arrested in June 2022 after Tan reported the incident to the police.
