A nationwide search is underway for a German backpacker who vanished in Western Australia's outback, as police released more information about her movements in the lead up to her disappearance.

Senior Sergeant Katharine Venn appealed for the public's help to find Carolina Wilga, last seen in Beacon on June 29.

Carolina Wilga, 26, was last seen at the Wheatbelt town's general store in her distinctive black-and-silver 1995 Mitsubishi van, registration 1HDS 330.

Police believe she was also in Toodyay and Dowerin on June 28.

Search efforts cover remote and regional areas of Western Australia and the east coast.

Helicopters and planes are involved in the search around Beacon in the Wheatbelt.

Police are following leads across regional WA and coastal towns.

Carolina's disappearance is being treated as a missing persons case with no sign of foul play.

The major crime squad has joined the investigation.
