OIC Urges UN Security Council Action on Gaza Crisis
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation, led by Türkiye, has called on the UN Security Council to address the ongoing suffering in the Gaza Strip. Türkiye's UN envoy emphasized the urgent need for immediate action to end the atrocities and loss of innocent lives in Gaza.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), currently chaired by Türkiye, urged the UN Security Council to act promptly to alleviate the suffering in the Gaza Strip. Türkiye's UN envoy Ahmet Yildiz expressed disappointment that recent negotiations for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza have not yielded immediate results, leaving the Palestinian people, especially in Gaza, to endure the ongoing hardships of the illegal occupation. Yildiz emphasized the loss of innocent lives and the unbearable conditions faced by the people in Gaza on a daily basis.
Yildiz, speaking on behalf of the OIC, condemned the actions of the Israeli occupation in Gaza, labeling them as genocide, forced displacement, starvation, and destruction, which the OIC considers as war crimes and crimes against humanity. He called on the Security Council to fulfill its responsibility for international peace and security, particularly during this critical period in the Middle East crisis.
Regarding Syria, Yildiz criticized the Israeli aggression against the sovereignty and territory of the Syrian Arab Republic, reaffirming support for Syria's right to self-defense. In his national capacity, Yildiz urged member states to work collectively towards a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace, including advocating for full UN membership for Palestine.
Yildiz urged the Council to act decisively to alleviate the suffering in Gaza, emphasizing the current historic opportunity to implement the two-state solution and uphold international law.
