Man arrested for sexual assault in High Park

Toronto police have arrested a suspect for allegedly sexually assaulting a 62-year-old woman in High Park in early June. The incident occurred on June 4 around 10:40 p.m. near Howard Park Avenue and Parkside Drive. The woman was walking on a pathway when an unknown man approached her from behind, dragged her into a wooded area of the park, and sexually assaulted her. She managed to escape and seek help from a passerby who contacted the police. The suspect fled the scene, and the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

After an investigation, Cortny Henry, 35, was arrested on Wednesday in connection to the assault. He faces charges including sexual assault causing bodily harm, forcible confinement, robbery, and failure to comply with probation. Police have released his photo suspecting there may be more victims.

Superintendent Andrew Ecklund expressed concerns about potential additional victims and urged anyone with information to come forward. Henry, who had a criminal record and was on probation during the assault, was arrested outside the city, raising the possibility of victims beyond Toronto. Police reassured residents of their commitment to High Park's safety and ongoing patrols in the area.
