Bomb threats reported at Canadian airports prompt evacuations and flight delays

NAV Canada, which provides air traffic control operations to Canadian airports, stated that bomb threats affected facilities in Ottawa, Montreal, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Calgary, and Vancouver. Employees at these locations are safe, and a temporary ground stop has been implemented at the affected airports.

The statement from NAV Canada emphasized collaboration with authorities to ensure the safety of personnel and passengers. Travelers were advised to check with their airlines for updates due to potential delays.

Service had started to resume at some airports, but delays were expected. Travellers were urged to stay updated through their airlines.

At Montréal-Trudeau International Airport, some flights were affected after the control tower was evacuated, but service had resumed by then.

Investigations into security incidents at Ottawa International Airport and Montreal’s Pierre Elliott Trudeau airport were reported by Reuters earlier in the morning. The Ottawa airport confirmed an ongoing investigation.

The Winnipeg Airport Authority reported minimal impact on services due to the security incident and expected no further delays.
