The cause of death was acute intoxication from multiple substances. She was found unresponsive at her home and declared dead upon arrival after a report of cardiac arrest.

Burrell had a passion for culinary arts from a young age, inspired by her mother and Julia Child. She studied at the Culinary Institute of America, taught, and then ventured into television. Starting as a sous chef on 'Iron Chef America,' she later hosted 'Secrets of a Restaurant Chef' and appeared on shows like 'Chef Wanted,' 'Chopped,' and 'Food Network Star.'
