Pakistan PM's Aide Reveals 30-Second Scramble During India's BrahMos Attack

A senior Pakistani politician and close aide to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif revealed that Pakistan's military had only 30 to 45 seconds to determine if the BrahMos missile launched by India carried a nuclear warhead. Rana Sanaullah, special assistant to the prime minister, mentioned in an interview that the launch of the BrahMos cruise missile during India's 'Operation Sindoor' caught Pakistan's defense apparatus off guard.

He highlighted that when India fired the BrahMos at Nur Khan airbase, Pakistan's military had a very short window to assess the situation. This put Pakistan in a precarious position, according to Sanaullah.

Sanaullah also credited US President Donald Trump for mediating a ceasefire deal between India and Pakistan after days of cross-border firing. He emphasized the importance of evaluating Trump's role in preventing a potential atomic war and nominated him for the Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of PM Shehbaz Sharif.

India, however, has denied Trump's involvement in the ceasefire agreement.

The missile struck the Nur Khan airbase in Chaklala, Rawalpindi, a significant Pakistan Air Force installation. Sanaullah admitted that the incident caused panic in Pakistan, raising concerns about a potential nuclear conflict.

Two weeks earlier, Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar acknowledged that India targeted two important airbases in Pakistan. Dar's statement followed previous denials by the Pakistani government and military regarding the impact of India's strikes.

India launched multiple BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles at key Pakistani airbases on May 10 as part of Operation Sindoor. The BrahMos, a joint venture between India and Russia now produced domestically, played a crucial role in destroying key targets such as Pakistani runways, bunkers, and hangars.
