Marcos Agrees with LWUA Probe Recommendation on PrimeWater

President Ferdinand \"Bongbong\" Marcos Jr. agrees with the recommendation of the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) regarding its investigation into PrimeWater's operations.

Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro mentioned that Marcos has reviewed LWUA's report and has formed an opinion on the issue. However, Castro did not reveal the recommendation at this time.

Marcos initiated the investigation into PrimeWater Infrastructure Corp. due to various service-related complaints. PrimeWater has expressed willingness to engage in constructive dialogue to address concerns and has committed to cooperating with LWUA.

Last week, LWUA Administrator Jose Moises Salonga was asked if the recommendation included terminating PrimeWater joint venture agreements (JVAs). Salonga emphasized the priority of ensuring water supply to the people.

Castro highlighted the increase in JVAs between PrimeWater and local water districts in 2019, during LWUA's attachment to the DPWH under Senator Mark Villar's leadership. Villar has denied involvement in the PrimeWater deals during his tenure as DPWH secretary.

PrimeWater Infrastructure Corp. is owned by the Villar family.
