Turkish foreign minister visits Islamabad for talks on shared interests

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan arrived in Islamabad for official discussions on bilateral issues, as announced by the Foreign Office. Fidan, along with Minister of National Defence Yasar Guler, is on an official visit to Pakistan. This visit signifies the strong ties between Pakistan and Turkiye, based on shared history, culture, and trust.

Upon their arrival, the dignitaries were welcomed by Pakistan’s Additional Secretary for West Asia, Ambassador Syed Ali Asad Gillani. Pakistan and Turkiye share a close relationship due to cultural, religious, and historical connections.

Pakistan expressed condolences to Turkiye after 12 Turkish soldiers died in Iraq. President Erdogan and PM Shehbaz Sharif met at the ECO summit in Azerbaijan to enhance cooperation in trade, energy, defence, connectivity, and investment. PM Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to collaborating with Turkiye for regional peace and development.

In February, President Erdogan visited Pakistan, and both countries aimed to boost bilateral trade to $5bn.
