The Department of Energy (DOE) is working to address power interruptions in off-grid areas, specifically Siquijor and Camotes Island. Short-term solutions are being implemented to stabilize electricity supply.

Energy Assistant Secretary Mario Marasigan stated that daily evaluations in Siquijor revealed issues with non-compliant suppliers using facilities not cleared by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).

Marasigan explained that Siquijor's distribution system design limits its generating facilities, causing delays in power restoration. The DOE has given stakeholders two months to study and implement a looping configuration for Siquijor.

PROSIELCO and TransCo have completed their studies for Siquijor's looping system. PROSIELCO has filed for budget approval, and the DOE is monitoring the island's fuel inventory.

In Camotes Island, CELCO is enhancing its distribution facilities with a three-phase program. The island also has potential for renewable energy projects, with a private sector initiative for a floating solar facility in Lake Danau.
