Cork man Finbarr Buttimer recently completed a 187km walk from Bishopstown to Dingle in memory of his daughter Nóra. Nóra lived for just 12 days, leaving a huge emptiness in her parents' lives. Finbarr embarked on this journey to honor her and raise funds for two charities. The walk was a healing and peaceful experience for him.
Finbarr started his walk on Father's Day, marking six months since Nóra's passing. The support from family and friends has been overwhelming. The funds raised exceeded his expectations, reaching over €20,000. The proceeds will benefit Féileacáin and First Light, organizations that support families dealing with the loss of a child.
Finbarr expressed gratitude for the support received and emphasized the importance of these organizations in helping him and his partner cope with their grief. He highlighted the significance of community and the healing power of nature during his journey.
Despite the profound loss, Finbarr finds solace in remembering Nóra every day. He encourages donations to support bereaved parents and honor Nóra's memory.
